Exam question: Is the moon or the sun more important?
Answer: The moon gives us light at night when we need it. The sun only provides light in the day when we don’t. Therefore the moon is more important.
The above priceless quote comes from F in Exams: The best test paper blunders by Richard Benson. After we stop laughing, it does reveal an important psychological fact: it is so easy to take the most fundamental things for granted!
Now, which is the most important book of the Bible? You could argue for one or all of the Gospel accounts, giving us the revelation of God’s nature in the God-Man Jesus Christ. You could argue for the book of the Psalms, the Jewish hymn-book containing some of the most beautiful poetry ever written. You could argue for the Book of Revelation, giving us the End-Times choreography.
What about the Book of Genesis?
It charts more of human history than any other book of the Bible, covering the first 2400 years or so of human existence. If its claims are correct, that’s nearly half of all human history (now just past 6000 years).
But more importantly, Genesis lays down foundational truths about the nature of God, of man, and of God’s plan for mankind. The kind of truths that we can forget, as we take them for granted.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” (Gn 1:26-28)
So here then is God’s blueprint for humanity: “Male and female he created them … be fruitful and increase in number”.
A major thrust of Satan’s rebellion against God is the war against creation. As has been remarked before, evil cannot create anything new, only twist, distort and destroy the goodness of God’s created world. It is no coincidence that in these last days Satan has succeeded in distorting God’s plan for men and women by introducing transgenderism which is now such a big deal in schools. Its effects will ripple through into young adulthood and eventually middle age. Its effects are permanent psychological damage and sterility.
So much for transgenderism; what does Genesis have to say about homosexuality?
Then the Lord said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.” …
The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”
“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.” (Gn 18:20-21; 19:1-5)
In the NIV translation above, there isn’t much room for manoeuvre as to the cause of Sodom’s subsequent destruction, for which, by the way, there is good geological evidence. So much for the modern “rainbow clergy” who would have us believe that Sodom’s sin was “a lack of hospitality”. A typical Satanic distortion of the truth. From the above we can see that homosexuality is one of the most grievous sins in God’s eyes. Why? Because again it is a distortion of His Holy Plan for mankind: that women should pair with men in holy matrimony for the increase of the species.
A modern Gay Pride march is (I am told) a festival of wickedness and scandal for young innocent eyes (see how once again Satan’s rebellion is aimed at the young). Curious that that word Pride should have been adopted which for Christians represents the deadliest sin. Curious also that the architects of the Gay Pride movement should adopt a 6-colour rainbow flag, rather than the 7-colour version put forward by Biblical Creationist Sir Isaac Newton in his seminal work Opticks of 1704. Newton chose 7 because it has always been regarded as the perfect number, particularly relating to the divine; whereas 6 being one short of 7 is the number of imperfection. Hence thrice 6 is the ultimate number of imperfection: the Number of the Beast.
Let’s leave the last word with St Paul, writing to the Christians of Rome. Although he is speaking of contemporary pagans who worshipped dumb idols of stone wood or metal, is that really so very different from what we find 2000 years later?
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. (Rom 1:18-27)
As Christians we should love the sinner, hate the sin (to paraphrase St Augustine of Hippo). Mental illness and suicides among the LGBT community are many times higher than among those following God’s plan for humanity. Those poor souls who have swallowed the LGBT lie desperately need our prayers for their deliverance. Let us pray that they will come to their senses and see the LGBT movement for what it is – while there is still time…
